Reviews for "Skull in Connemara"

Woah...

whoever didn't like this is a DOUCHEBAG.

SERIOUSLY THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ANIMATIONS ON NEWGROUNGS!!!

But faut- SHUT THE FUCK UP.

End of story.

TheBoogley responds:

Damn, it's nice to have you in my corner Fautzo! :D
please don't ever turn against me... I'm a little afraid of you {:0

Nice work Boogsworth

What makes good rotoscoping is the consistency; not just copying down the outline of a character like so many others have attempted to do in flash. You kept the shadow of the etched-out figure in place, despite the wobble of the lines. That was a very nice touch.

And yes, I've always loved seeing my stuff up on a huge projection/projected image. You get so used to working on a small screen that seeing it so huge really takes your breath away. It's even more orgasmic when an animation is projected on a physical object or sculpture. OOoowoowahh.

My ony gripe with this? Probably the music. It seems a bit too instrumental for an animation so simple, though I really couldn't describe what a perfect replacement would be. Normally, I'd say a piano sonata of sorts or something. It makes me think of the "Requiem for a Dream" score.

TheBoogley responds:

thanks Nicol, I hunted down your stuff on drunkduck.
I think you just might have a new fan, you sick bastard :3

Cool...

its was cool, the animation was great, the music fit in very well, but...your not gonna get out of your normally silly style are you?! id miss it :)

great overall anyways, 5/5

TheBoogley responds:

nope, it's too depressing making movies like this. I missed giggling at the silliness like I usually do while making a movie and being looked like I'm an insane person by those around me. :3

Nice style~

I loved the style that you put in there
great animation as always
Very creepy how you made it with the music
But I enjoyed this flash
The only thing I didn't like was the mirror effect in there but anyways great flash

TheBoogley responds:

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. The mirror effect had to be there so that people could see crucial parts of the footage that might be blocked off by the set from wherever they were sitting. We also couldn't have much stuff crossing the middle because the join of the two projector screens would be two obvious.

Cool!

I can just imagine seeing that through mist. I bet it was really ghostly. Did you do rotoscoping or was it all freehand?

You got the music from FreeplayMusic.com, didn't you? I used to browse on there for hours and now I hear those songs all over the place like TV commercials and stuff, it's really weird. I used to use their songs in my games till they changed the contract... :C

TheBoogley responds:

I did use rotoscoping in places, I filmed the leading man moving through some of the positions, but in a lot of cases I could only trace key frames and then I'd have to inbetween it freehand to keep the drawings lining up and looking correct. It's hard to make rotoscoping work and not look like badly traced video footage.
Yeah, freewebs is great, the director found the music he wanted there. :)
