And he didn't take a backseat, he faded because he has put out horrible music in the last six years. Rebirth is one of the worst rated albums on Metacritic. Tha Carter IV got bad reviews and was mediocre material. I Am not a Human Being was bad and got bad reviews. His mixtapes in the last five years have been laughable. Even Tha Carter III was really nothing more than a pop rap album that basically had no substance or lyricism. His lyrics have never been great, but they've been terrible since Tha Carter III. He has everything to prove in a sense because no one views him as great rapper right now or even in the last six years. I don't agree that he has ever been a great rapper, but I recognize that earlier in his career a lot of people thought he was and I respect their opinion. But in my opinion, he's average at the very best with material that is neither deep or meaningful.
